Star Slinger remix of The Go! Team: Apollo Throwdown

After an extended hiatus for life, I'm back with a passion. Since the last time I wrote for you guys, I've moved cities, I've been broken up with, I've has a couple different jobs, I've started new relationships and ended them. I've seen a hearse do a doughnut, I've climbed the highest mountain I could see just to scream off the top of it. I've driven more hours than I care to calculate, and I'm still not where I want to be. Now, the music.

The Go! Team are a Brighton, United Kingdom-based six piece band (with two drummers!!) whose songs are a mixture of action-theme songs, cheerleader's chants, noise-pop guitars and early hip-hop, with a hint of some 1970's funk. On record, their songs are often pieced together from samples, although live the songs are performed mostly with live instruments.

Blackbird Blackbird: Tear

Blackbird Blackbird is the professional moniker of San Fransisco, California based Mikey Maramag. He blends together dream-like electronica with folk in a deeply textured and hypnotic fashion, making Tear a perfect example of the layering of electronica over ghostly vocals and folk music.

Tallest Man on Earth: King of Spain

The Tallest Man on Earth is legally known as Kristian Matsson, who is characterized by his raw charismatic voice. Because of this, he is often compared to Bob Dylan--with their similarly raw voices and folk-based styles. Matsson was formerly the front man for the Montezumas.

The Shivers come from NYC, NY and managed to have the best song in existence, maybe. Well, there's "The Dead Flag Blues" in the running, but I'm not counting.

Another one of those indie-rock band who's songs all sounds like summer.

Foster the People: Pumped Up Kicks

Foster the People hails from Los Angeles, CA and is classified as an indie pop/rock group, with this song being their first hit, debuting in summer 2011, and it caught on quick because of it's quirky catchy tune.
