Inkships: Cassette

Inkships is a British Indie-rock group that uses electronic sounds to supplement their indie sound. What remains is pretty chill and nice.

Slow Magic & Beat Culture: Once

Slow Magic & Beat Culture collaborate and the result  is both chill, full of beats and serious synths that combine together to form what we know as awesome.

"I once had a dream..."

Alpine: Hands

Alpine is a fun Australian six-piece, that combine a lot of intriguing sounds with a pleasant voice and a nice face. Alpine is on the rise, likened to Phoenix and The xx, they've definitely got some growth room and are going places with songs like Hands.

Blackbird Blackbird: Tear

Blackbird Blackbird is the professional moniker of San Fransisco, California based Mikey Maramag. He blends together dream-like electronica with folk in a deeply textured and hypnotic fashion, making Tear a perfect example of the layering of electronica over ghostly vocals and folk music.

Gracie x Stephaloo: Quilts

Gracie x Stephaloo is a collaborative effort, that resulted in a dream-like track that showcases several intriguing and intrinsically weird noises in a...(I'm still deciding) pleasant fashion. Dreams like this song are the ones you remember best.

The Weepies: World Spins Madly On

The Weepies are a folk band made famous by their plug on Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill, Scrubs, and the like. Operating out of California, the couple love what they do, and you hear it transferring into the realm of their music. Their first album, Say I am You was the best-selling folk record in 8 countries!

"When it all seems out of place, the world spins madly on."

Beach House: New Year

Beach House is an American (Maryland) dream pop group that achieved fame rapidly in 2006; since they've free-lancely collaborated with groups such as Grizzly Bear. The group is known for the languid qualities that their music possesses.

Shout out to Kaitlyn Swaggert for being the best bartender ever; birthday music.

Linkin Park featuring Martin Luther King, Junior: Wisdom, Justice and Love

A couple days late, but worth it. MLK speech from "Beyond Vietnam: A time to break the silence" with electronics by Linkin Park. Powerful words from a powerful man.

Saftysuit: Someone Like You

Not a fitting song to post on my birthday, of all days. But, pensive or not, Safetysuit isn't bad. Safetysuit has been described as Deftones meets Jimmy Eat World, which isn't at all a bad description for the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based band.

Brandi Carlile: Turpentine

Brandi Carlile is a hold-over from an age long gone, with a voice to prove it. Her sound is technically wrong but emotionally right, in her own words, and I agree.

"And memories like spies
the salt betrays my eyes again
I started losing sleep and gaining weight
And wishing I was was ten again
So I could be your friend again

These days we go to waste like wine
That's turned to turpentine"

Live: Dance With You

Live is a band from York, Pennsylvania with a sound that's similar to U2, this song produces chills every time I hear it. It reminds me of slow-dancing in the dark, with only candles and your face to light the world. It reminds me of hurt knees.

I missed you like Hell, even if you didn't know it. Thankfully, the spell is broken and life can continue as it should, as the song ends.

Local Natives: Wide Eyes

This indie rock band is California dreamy! They hail from Silver Lake, Los Angeles and play something akin to afropop, with their choice of guitar and background noise. Their drumming is best-described as hyper-active--I'm sure their drummer watched Animal from the Muppets play as a child. The best part, though, is their three-part harmonies that sold them at 2009's SXSW festival.

Baby Monster: City of Lovers

They've been compared to MGMT and Passion Pit. They've got a serious feel for hook-filled dacefloor grooves that serve as anthems for listeners. They're Portland, Oregon based electro-indie-pop duo Baby Monster, Danny Sternbaum and Marty Larson--and they've got a point or two to prove.

"I wanna be a lover in a city of lovers.
It ain't so easy to get in here
But it's not so hard."

The Ruby Suns: Kingfisher Call Me

The Ruby Suns isn't your average bear, it's an indie group from the isle of New Zealand.

"The look on your face, waterfalls; dry your eyes"

Brothertiger: A House of Many Ghosts

John Jagos began his recording career under the name Brothertiger back in Toledo, OH during the balmy summer of 2009. However, he began recording indie-electronic music in 2006 as Monoteque, which was an experimental project characterized mainly by it's tribal beats and pulsing synths. Influenced heavily by the electronic sound of Brian Eno and (of course) M83, along with the experimental characteristics of Caribou, Animal Collective, and Yeasayer, Jagos recorded many of his tracks throughout the final half of 2009 with windows wide open. Drawing heavily upon cassette-esque lo-fi drum tracks and dream-like synthesizers, Brothertiger conglomerates the ethereal stylings of 1980's new-wave with the modern electro-dance sound into his own being. Like contemporaries Washed Out and Toro y Moi, Brothertiger aims to capture the “carefree and woozy feelings of summer ease.”

"It's just daydreams and pale limitations."

Chrome Sparks: Send The Pain On

So much mellow! Chrome Sparks is the solo  project of Jeremy Malvin, a 22 year-old musician and producer living in Brooklyn, New York by way of Pittsburgh and Ann Arbor.  With a background in heavy in classical percussion, Jeremy combines his love for synths, beat, and dance music into a unique blend.

London Grammar: Hey Now

London Grammar's vocalist Hannah Reid has a sultry set of pipes, and combined with a minimalist background...you've got serious magic! Check out the up-and-coming group, with their hit debut fresh out of the box!

Toto: Africa

Blast from the past from the collective studio musicians known as Toto. The group conglomerated out of thin air, comprised of composers who were completely unknown, but had written and performed with Boz Skaggs. Their album work is supplemented solely, interestingly enough, by work for the film "Dune" for David Lynch, released in 1984.

Peter Peter: Tergiverse

Peter Peter is an imaginative fellow, with an eye for pretty gals, poems and music. In his infancy, he fancied himself to be Bruce Willis, as Die Hard 1,2, and 3 were quite popular at the time. Then, in his teen years, his focus changed to be Jim Morrisey. Go figure.

In French language, tergiverser is the verb for dithering, and it's a song about dithering for one reason or another.

"Je tergiverse entre le sud et le nord.
Je connais la ville de haut en bas
Et mes bas en effet entre au bas"

Kitty Pryde: Okay Cupid

This song is a combination of experimental indie hip-hop, and being a sophomore in high school. Maybe it's a head-nod to the dating website, but I've no idea, and my diggings on Kitty Pryde have resulted in me snooping around a Tumblr covered in my little ponies, a Facebook simmering with Animal Crossing, I didn't even look at her twitter or her Youtube--in short, I have no idea what's going on with this artist. At all. Maybe she IS a sophomore in high school, ha.

"Shorty, you're a 10..."

Circle: Fashion Me a Drum

Circle, not only a popular shape, but also a popular band name, in this instance, is a Sydney, Australia formed band from 2004.

"Use my iPhone, you're at the point of no-return."
